H2 Dance Co. is presenting its fall dance concerts this Friday and Saturday at the Knickerbocker Theatre in downtown Holland.

Performances begin at 8 p.m.

Comprised of Hope students, H2 Dance Co. is one of the college鈥檚 premiere dance companies, and performs a wide assortment of styles by a variety of choreographers. The company strives to ensure that there will always be at least one piece in the concert that is relatable and another that challenges the audience members.

The theme for the fall performances of H2 Dance Co. is 鈥淩ebirth.鈥 The four choreographers all took their own artistic approach with the word. They have either tackled the idea of rebirth head-on, or looked at the ideas, feelings, and situations surrounding the word.

Crystal Frazier (co-artistic director) has choreographed two pieces this year. The first piece is an expansion on a previous tap piece looking at the summertime in the Deep South. Her second piece, an afro-fusion piece, takes a look at the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela. Sharon Wong has created a modern/contemporary work that addresses the concept of rebirth directly. Kristen Farmer has created a contemporary pointe piece, which challenges both the audience and the dancers. Matthew Farmer (co-artistic director) also created two pieces. The first is a light, dance-filled piece that celebrates the coming of summer and a day at the beach. The second piece tackles the issues of identity, self-doubt, and triumph of the human spirit.

Individual tickets for the performance are $10 for regular admission, $7 for senior citizens, and $5 for children 18 and under.

Tickets are available at the ticket office in the Events and Conferences Office located downtown in the Anderson-Werkman Financial Center at 100 E. Eighth St.  The office is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and can be called at (616) 395-7890. Tickets are also available online at hope.edu/tickets.
