Composer and pianist Keith Kirchoff will present a guest recital at 熊猫在线视频 on Thursday, April 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Wichers Auditorium of Nykerk Hall of Music.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
Kirchoff's 鈥淭he Electro-Acoustic Piano鈥 performance will include two works specially commissioned for the event and explore several completely different aspects of electro-acoustic performance. The program will feature Robert Seaback鈥檚 鈥淪eed. Signal. (2012)鈥 for piano and electronics; John Gibson鈥檚 鈥淏lue Traces (2009)鈥 for piano and live electronics; Brian Belet鈥檚 鈥淪ummer Phantoms: Nocturne (2011)鈥 for piano and electronics; and Kirchoff鈥檚 鈥淲hite Canvas (2012)鈥 for piano and live electronics. The recital is designed for all listeners and will be presented in a casual lecture/recital format.
Kirchoff has performed throughout all of North America and much of Europe. A strong advocate for modern music, he has premiered more than 100 new works and commissioned over two dozen compositions. As part of his commitment to fostering new audiences for contemporary music, Kirchoff has appeared at colleges and universities across the country as a lecture-recitalist. He has played with orchestras throughout the United States, performing a wide range of concerto, including the Boston premiere of Charles Ives鈥 鈥淓merson Concerto鈥 and the world premiere of Matthew McConnell鈥檚 鈥淐oncerto for Toy Piano.鈥
Kirchoff has won awards from the Steinway Society, MetLife Meet the Composer and the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, and was named the 2011 Distinguished Scholar by the SMSA. Specializing on works which combine interactive electro-acoustics with solo piano, Kirchoff鈥檚 Electro-Acoustic Piano Tour has been presented in five countries, and the first album in the Electro-Acoustic Piano series was released in 2011 on Thinking outLOUD Records. He has also recorded on the New World, Zerx Bridge, and SEAMUS labels.
Nykerk Hall of Music is located in the central Hope campus at the former 127 E. 12th Street between College and Columbia avenues.
