An exhibition of work by graduating seniors majoring in art and art history at Hope College will open in the gallery of the De Pree Art Center on Friday, March 31, with a reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The public is invited to both the exhibition, titled "Wherefore Art," and the reception, during which refreshments will be served. Admission is free.
Work represented in the show will range from painting and photography to ceramics and sculpture. The exhibiting studio art majors are: Rachel Achtemeier of Dubuque, Iowa; Amy Back of Brookville, Ind.; Amanda Berlinski of Worth, Ill.; Ashley Boer of Modesto, Calif.; Katherine Brown of Macomb; Adriana Canche of Tegucigalpa, Honduras; Jessica DiBernardo of Western Springs, Ill.; Holly Dustin of Contoocook, N.H.; Dustin Fiddler of Ada; Rob Fron of Byron Center; Kent Osborn of Holland; Alexandra Snyder of Northport; Lindsay Strahle of Fenton; Sandie Timmer of Holland; and Jonathan White of Holland.
Also on display is the senior paper of graduating art history major Anne Bast of Grand Rapids. Bast will make a slide-illustrated presentation of her paper on Wednesday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in Cook Auditorium of the De Pree Art Center. Admission to the presentation is also free and light refreshments will be served.
The De Pree Art Center is located on Columbia Avenue at 12th Street. The regular gallery hours are Sundays and Mondays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.; and Thursdays from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Gallery hours may be reduced during breaks and holidays. The gallery is handicapped accessible.
