Support International Students

International students are an integral part of Hope鈥檚 student population. For tips on communicating cross-culturally, supporting international students in the classroom and more, check out our Guide for Faculty and Instructors.

Affinity Group for International Faculty and Staff

The Center for Global Engagement hosts an affinity group for any faculty and staff members who grew up overseas. We meet throughout the academic year and host events along with our international students. To learn more about this group, contact Jasmine Lowell at lowell@hope.edu or x7080.

Off-Campus Study Advising

We offer guidance on how to advise your students before and after their off-campus programs. Please review the and reach out to offcampusstudy@hope.edu with any questions.

Class Presentations

Our staff is available to give presentations in FYS and other classes to highlight off-campus study opportunities. We also love to partner with academic departments and student groups to host an event about off-campus study! Reach out to offcampusstudy@hope.edu to schedule a presentation.

Global Champion Liasons

Each academic department at Hope has designated a Global Champion whose job it is to promote off-campus study within their department and beyond. See the list of current Global Champions and reach out to collaborate with them.

May/June/July Term Program Development

Are you interested in developing your own May/June Term off-campus study program? We offer a series of workshops that will guide you through how to best prepare, plan and execute a short-term program. Topics include logistical preparation, risk management, health and safety, recruiting, marketing and assessment. We recommend an 18-month planning and implementation phase. Please contact Amy Quincey at x7605 or quincey@hope.edu to learn more about these workshops and to begin the process of developing your own program.

Off-Campus Faculty Development opportunities

By exchanging ideas with other faculty around the globe, you鈥檒l be able to enhance your teaching methods and create an international conversation in your classroom, benefitting your students.

Exchange Faculty at Meiji Gakuin University, Japan

熊猫在线视频 faculty members may apply to become an exchange professor for one semester at Meiji Gakuin University, one of our Global Partner Institutions in Japan. An exchange professor teaches two courses in English, at either or both the Yokohama or Shirokane (Tokyo) campuses of Meiji Gakuin University.

The Center for Global Engagement is connected to affiliate programs throughout the world who we partner with for off-campus study programs. These organizations are well-equipped for helping to enhance your professional development and provide a unique view into other methods.

Academic Year at Waseda University, Japan

Are you interested in spending a year in Japan as a resident director? Each year, a GLCA/ACM faculty member is selected to spend a year teaching at the Japan Study Program hosted at Waseda University. Typically this is considered a year of teaching, rather than a sabbatical year. For more information, please visit or contact:
