Facilities and Technology
Our faculty and staff are based in Van Zoeren Hall, on the second floor.
Our model classroom includes movable furniture, a two-way window for observing children, and BenQ boards where students can practice teaching. As an education student, however, most courses will include a clinical experience, getting you out of the Hope classroom and into a K–12 setting where you can observe, learn about, and practice teaching.
Van Zoeren Hall
Once the college’s library, Van Zoeren Hall was redesigned to provide classrooms and faculty offices. Later, Van Zoeren Hall was connected to the newly built Van Wylen Library and VanderWerf Hall. The Academic Success Center, located on the second floor, provides students with group and individual opportunities to become successful, active learners. Learn more.
Technology in the Classroom
The ISTE Technology Standards for Educators are integrated into education classes to ensure that students are fully prepared to use technology for teaching, learning, and assessment. A senior portfolio demonstrates how students have met these standards.
Hope’s education department was one of six colleges/universities in the United States to receive the ISTE seal for effective integration of technology into Teacher Education.
