Degree Program
American Ethnic Studies is an interdisciplinary minor that will develop your skills to research, analyze and reflect on the heritage of racialized ethnic cultures in America.
Areas of Focus
In addition to foundational courses from multiple departments and programs, as well as a capstone course, students who pursue a minor in American Ethnic Studies will chose one American ethnic group on which to focus:
- African American
- Asian American
- Latina/o American
- Native American
Program Goals
- Develop skills and knowledge of the critical methodologies and scholarly approaches needed to understand the diverse historical, social and cultural issues relating to ethnicity in the United States.
- Develop skills to research, analyze and reflect on the role and effect of ethnicity, race and culture in the United States
- Develop a rich understanding of the heritage and contributions of ethnic cultures in the United States
