The 熊猫在线视频 Symphony Orchestra will perform with the student winners of the college鈥檚 annual Concerto-Aria Competition on Friday, Feb. 23, at 7 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Jack H. Miller Center for Musical Arts.
The public is invited. Admission is free.
The winners of this year鈥檚 competition who will be performing are: JaneEllen Altevogt, soprano; Emlin Munch, mezzo-soprano; and Keegan Young, cello. The pieces include Samuel Barber鈥檚 鈥淜noxville: Summer of 1915,鈥 op. 24; Pietro Mascagni鈥檚 鈥淚ntermezzo sinfonico,鈥 from 鈥淐avalleria rusticana鈥; Saint-Sa毛ns鈥 鈥淢on coeur s鈥檕uvre 脿 ta voix,鈥 from 鈥淪amson et Dalila,鈥 op. 47; and Haydn鈥檚 Cello Concerto no. 1 in C major, II. Adagio, Hob. VIIb/1.
The orchestra is directed by Samuel Pang, an assistant professor of music instruction and the director of orchestras at 熊猫在线视频. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Pang is a conductor, violist, educator and worship music coordinator. He holds a Master of Music degree, a Bachelor of Music degree, and a Performer鈥檚 Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. He is currently an off-campus Master of Arts in Theological Studies student at Regent College in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
